Thank you to those who attended our first Community Council Meeting of the year on September 19. Our next meeting will be held in December, TBA.
-We went over our current school plan as can be seen here: https://secure.utah.gov/slt-admin/public/approvedPlan/approvedPlan.html?code=13124&year=2019
Discussion:
-Why is our goal for students reading at grade level 80%? Our previous goal was 75% which was reached last year, so it has been adjusted upward.
-How many reading aides do we have? We have 4, 2 are paid for from LAND Trust monies. All math aides are paid for from LAND Trust monies.
-Our school is #1 for Teacher PLC and collaboration, which is accomplished by giving them 3 prep hours per week as students attend Art, Music, PE, and Library. Our Music and Art teachers are maintained by LAND Trust monies. The Art teacher is paid through a grant with LAND Trust covering the remainder of her salary.
-Technology goal is to have 1:1 Chromebooks for 3rd – 5th grades, and 1 lab per grade for 1st and 2nd. It will take several years to achieve this.
-Title I School? We are not currently a Title I School. Title I Schools are ranked with money going to the highest needs. Title I monies are decreasing overall.
-Free & Reduced Lunch. We discussed making sure the application process was known to everyone, how to make it more visible.
